A few weeks ago, Labish & Elana Bergovoy were in LA where Labish spoke to men and women of the community at the Kollel on "Parting the Red Sea." Elana met afterwards with the ladies to hear their concerns and give encouragement regarding shidduch issues. The event was organized by the LA Shidduch Group. The Bergovoys also spoke about shidduchim to people at Rav Shusterman's shul in Beverly Hills where they were for Shabbos. Right afterwards, Ari Roth of LA became a chassan. Shortly thereafter, Rabbi Shusterman's son, Yaakov, got engaged to Mushky Abend of LA. Next , an LA girl, Aidle Raigorodsky, became a kallah. The daughter of Miriam Feiner---who co-directs the LA shidduch group---Bracha, becamer a kallah before Shabbos. On YomTov, many women got together at Rabbi Raichik's shul, said heartfelt Tehillim , and mentioned the names of singles in the community, giving them brachos to meet their zivugim, followed by, "Amen!" to each name. Right after Yom Tov the engagement of Devorah Leah Lubin (daughter of Esther Mindel Overlander, who just started a Shidduch Group in Golders Green, London) was announced. Just today, Mushka Kaplan from LA became a kallah, and a boy & girl from LA got engaged to one another! We applaud the women of the Los Angeles community who exemplify Ahavas Yisroel and achdus. And we encourage everyone to do the same in their communities: Get together this Shabbos to say Tehillim, learn, make l'chaims for the singles in your midst needing shidduchim, followed by, "Amen!" Have a simcha dance and let the "SIMCHA PORETZ GEDER!" And please remember to let us know your good news when it happens! L'chaim, Elana and Dvora Bs"d The Los Angeles Shidduch Network hosted Labish and Elana Bergovoy at a meeting on Thursday evening, April 23, at Bais Levi Yitchok shul. Men and women from the LA community came to hear an update on news from the International Shidduch Group Network from Elana, as well as a shiur titled "Emunah: Parting the Red Sea" given by Judge Bergovoy. The shiur was followed by a Q&A session. Labish shared stories of faith and trust in Hashem, culled from his experiences as a Chassidic Jewish lawyer and judge. He then encouraged all present to take part in the Shidduch Group Network and similarly have complete emunah that Hashem will bring everyone's shidduch. Thanks to Miriam Feiner, Debbie Fine and Shoshana Bracha Plotke for organizing the meeting, and to all who participated. Great to see everyone, and hope to share more good news soon! Tzirel Frankel, veteran shadchanit from Los Angeles, gave a seminar in Crown Heights about how to talk a shidduch on Thursday, February 19. A group of 15 aspiring shadchanim gathered at the home of Mrs. Leah Barber to hear tips from a pro and stories from Ms. Frankel's 25 years as a shadchan. She stressed how important it is for anyone involved in helping a shidduch along to really get to know their subjects, understand where they're coming from, and to care, be able to invest your time, and to listen. The talk is forthcoming shortly on Torah Cafe.
A grosse "Yashar Koach" to Miriam Feiner, Debbie Fine, Chava Rochel Krintzman and the L.A. Shidduch Group!
Last night, Miriam hosted a "Standing Room Only" crowd of about 70 women from the community to hear Rabbi Yosef Shusterman address the topic, "Shidduchim: What to ask--What to Answer." He spoke poignantly about many aspects of shidduchim, based on his many years of experience as a Rav. A "Q & A" session followed his talk, and many pertinent topics were covered then, as well. Rebbetzin Chana Leeba Raichik led the crowd in the Rebbe's capital before the Rav's speech. A tasty and eye-pleasing array of refreshments was enjoyed by all who attended! We wish the L.A. Shidduch Group much hatzlocha in its efforts on behalf of shidduchim in the Los Angeles area and beyond. Hope to hear that many chassunahs are being celebrated in L.A. very soon!!
